I managed to get a good nights sleep last night. That helped improve my mood greatly. This morning is kind of gray and cool and we got two more waves of rain moving through next week – but spring is coming! The wild geese have been flying overhead in the morning. It is always a beautiful sight.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do today. I'll meet Tyrone for breakfast here shortly, and then after that I'm inclined to take a chance on a movie of some sort. We are supposed to go see Logan tomorrow – by we I mean Bob and Tyrone and I - so that's off the list of potential's for today. But I'm sure there's quite a few other movies out there that I haven't even seen yet.
I've got ample small things around the house to do if I elect to just have a quiet day at home. On the other hand, after all the hours I've been working, I am half tempted to go out and just wonderful a while. I haven't done a museum walk for quite a while now. Specifically I was thinking about going up to the Triton in Santa Clara.
Well, we will see what the day has in store. Let me finish up this cup of coffee, and I'm gonna head out and put some gas in the car, and pick up Tyrone for breakfast. The rest of it I'll just take as it comes.
"…Living only for the moment, turning our full attention to the pleasures of the moon, the snow, the cherry blossoms and the maple leaves; singing songs, drinking wine, diverting ourselves just floating, floating….refusing to be disheartened, like a gourd floating along with the river current; this is what we call the floating world…” Asai Ryoi, in Ukiyo Monogatari (Tales of the Floating World, 1661)

Lunch at La Paloma
A productive and enjoyable day is winding to an end with a bit of DVR before I crawl into bed and curl up with a book. Had a great conversation with TR, which was the capstone on a nice day.
I had a lot of meetings at work, but they were actually mostly productive - which is rare, but great when it happens. In the middle of that productive day we had a nice Christmas luncheon at La Paloma on El Camino Real in Santa Clara.
Dinner was an excellent salad.
I am looking forward to a good night of sleep. I seem to have gotten over the cranky inducing day I had on Sunday, where I swirled around and around over issues of time and timing.
I think, in the coming year, one of the things I need to focus on is being more authentically present. It is not easy but it is worth the struggle that it takes. The year seems to be ending well and I am looking forward to the new year, even though it is a couple of weeks out.

Saturday I Went To The Triton
http://www.flickr.com/photos/roderckdhu/sets/72157612373432697/
I spent most of the day just wandering in the sun. Sushi for lunch. A haircut. A car wash. A stop at the hardware store. Barnes & Noble. Big 5 Sports. The Triton Musuem.
I took some pictures while in Santa Clara, at the Triton Musuem - the link above takes you to an updated set of them on Flickr.
Met my nephew and my friend Tony at Ringer Hut (a Japanese Restaurant) for dinner. I had the chicken teriyaji bento. It was excellent. After dinner, we stood in the parking lot and watched that incredible moonrise. It was simply stunning.
Made it home, watched Jr. Bonner (Steve McQueen, directed by Sam Peckinpah - probably the best rodeo movie ever made). Tom and Tony headed out to see Slumdog Millionaire (which I had already seen). My nephew Tom says Danny Boyle changed his life with "A Life Less Ordinary", so I am fairly certain he is going to like the movie.
Myself, I opted for a quiet evening at home. Took a nice long hot bath. Watched a couple of episodes of Two and A Half Men. Watching an episode of House.
