Another Brick In The Wall

I'm still working on getting back into the habit of writing a little something here every day.  It's been busy at work, very busy, and we're in what amounts to be a very insane cycle and I'm worried about whether or not two of my projects are going to get configured in time.  One's my fault and the other one is just, I think, a bit too much work for the configuration specialist with all that is going on.  Otherwise though, my work mood is good and I'm actually going to pivot back over to my work computer and put another couple of bricks in the wall.

I went out to Holder's for dinner tonight - corned beef hash, two eggs over easy, hash browns and Swedish pancakes.  Very simple, very tasty.  Tonight, I think I am going to settle in and watch a movie and try to get to sleep early because I've got a meeting at the crack of dawn.  I am also going to make a call to the folks to check up on them.  My sister told me today that my step-dad took a tumble but that he was not injured, so I thought it would be a good idea to check up on them.  I tried calling them earlier in the day but there was no answer - but that appears to be because I call them while they were out for lunch.

Thursday Evening Burns

It was nice to wrap up the three day work week tonight, though I made a critical mistake at the end of the day. Because of the variations on my schedule I had Monday as a holiday and then Friday as my normal off Friday, which made for a short three day work week. However, it sure felt like I crammed five days of work in three days and I ended up with more work than I like to have on my plate as I left for the day. I am naturally reluctant to surrender any of my weekend to play catch up, but I may have to invest a couple of hours over the weekend, just so I don't end up to far behind the eight-ball on Monday. Of course, I can also talk myself out of that idea pretty easily to.

Meanwhile, back to the critical mistake I made at the end of the day - I finished the working day by doing three online compliance training classes. At the end of that little cycle I was struggling desperately to stay awake. I often wonder how hard is it to make engaging training materials? Dry and monotone always seem to be the order of the day. We compound that problem at work because I personally think a lot of our training material is - so bland as to be mind-numbing.

So, after work I set off for home, including a stop at the market to pick up some odds and ends, and then I stopped at Holders to meet Tony for a quick bite to eat. I had an excellent plate of Swedish pancakes - and got to see a car fire in front of the market. (The picture is from that car fire, taken with my Blackberry.) From there it was a trip home, a quiet evening with TR, and now I am watching one of my guilty pleasure shows - "So You Think You Can Dance". I am tuckered out, so I am going to sleep well this evening. I am going to be headed straight into dreamland as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Thursday's Tale

All in all today was a good day. Work settled out and I wrapped a few things up and then got back to my regular tasks.

My mother is doing much better today though she is still in the hospital with pancreatitis, most likely caused by the fall. Each day is taken one day at a time.

Dinner was Swedish pancakes.

Tonight's plan is rest, relax, maybe do a little writing, and sleep.

We have the first real winter rainstorm sliding in over us - it started sprinkling tonight and we are supposed to get rain all through the weekend, so most likely my plan will be to keep it close to home, do a lot of reading, watch a few movies, do some writing and just chill.
